I love all of the amazing fruits that we find this time of year. One that I’ve been eating like candy lately is cherries! If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen my cherry post not too long ago. In that post, I mentioned that cherries are great for post-workout recovery. Cherries (more specifically, tart cherries) contain anti-inflammatory, antioxidant compounds called anthocyanins. These anthocyanins work to reduce inflammation, which in turn can minimize post-workout pain and boost muscle recovery. Added bonus? They’re delicious!
I’m looking forward to cherry season. It’s winter here in New Zealand so we only get cherries around our Christmas time. It probably seem strange for you in the Northern Hemisphere, but it’s not Christmas to me without a festive bowl of cherries at the table.
That would seem funny for us to have cherries at Christmas, but I would love it! I’m getting my fill now while I can.
